#captureyourgrief--Day 8

Jewelry in memory of Luke

It's only been a month since we lost Luke, but literally about a week after, I got an email from one of my favorite websites, #shanalogic. And I saw this necklace, which was pretty much exactly the same leaf they put on my door at the hospital when we found out we lost him. It's a subtle reminder of him.

  1. They put a leaf on the door?

    1. Yep--Gena's got it right below--They put a fallen oak leaf (maybe it's maple?) on the door so that no one busts in all happy and celebratory.

It was bad enough having to hear everyone's baby heartbeats and not Luke's...

It's totally a scarlet letter. But in some weird way, I found this comforting when I found it.

  2. That's gorgeous!
@Purple Shoes - they do that so nurses, etc can easily identify that the mom in the room had a miscarriage, stillbirth, etc - so they know to enter with a different attitude/not say the wrong things.

  3. Let's see if I can figure out how to comment here (tried twice last night and failed) I love the leaf (and the one on LJ) it just I don't know, suits things somehow. Like there is a future and there is the sun, but right in front is this beautiful creation that is just out of reach in the picture.
